Bakery Goods
Volta features a full line of wonderful baked goods, all made in-house by our bakers and baristas. The choices will be seasonal and will change daily, but while supplies last on a daily basis we have a selection of scones, muffins, croissants, pastries, and bagels.
I highly recommend the cafe au lait and a croissant, along with a copy of the New York Times, for a long, lazy morning in the cafe.
Volta's baristas and baking staff also work in our own kitchen to create one-of-a-kind desserts. Our daily selection of cupcakes, brownies, cheesecake, creme brulee and strata are all baked at Volta. All are excellent with a cup of coffee off the Clover or with a latte. We occasionally have an assortment of scones, aka the perfect accompaniment for a pot of English Breakfast tea, taken with a spot of milk and a packet of sugar.
The desserts that we bake in-house feature the highest quality ingredients that we can source. We use Askinosie and Maglio chocolates. Seasonal citrus and fresh fruits come from the downtown Union Street Farmer's market. Our Madagascar vanilla beans are sourced from Chicago's famous Spice House.
We always try to have at least one special Volta dessert designed specifically to pair with one of our featured coffees. By working with our extensive coffee cupping notes, our bakers build a palette of flavors that enhance your experience with our brewed coffee selections.
